Early Life and Career Journey of Mike Baur
Mike Baur is the co-founder and managing partner of Swiss Start-up Factory. He is a Swiss businessman and entrepreneur with an extensive background in banking and finance. His entrepreneurial journey unfolded in 2014 at the age of 39 after quitting banking to venture into startup companies. Mike Baur’s passion for banking and finance started way back in his childhood. Consequently, he left banking sector to team up with Max Meister and Oliver Walzer to establish Switzerland’s top private startup accelerator, Swiss Startup Factory.
Mike Baur holds an MBA and Executive MBA from the University of Rochester, New York and the University of Bern respectively. As such, Mike leverages his vast leadership skills and his over 20 years of experience in banking to propel the growth of his ventures. In fact, he was a jury member at the START Summiteer, a startup acceleration program held at the University of St Gallen. Besides, Mike Baur led the Swiss Startup Factory into collaboration with CTI Invest, Switzerland’s leading financial platform for start-ups. Consequently, he was appointed Deputy Managing Director of CTI Invest. He also led the Swiss Startup factory through its partnership with Fintech Fusion and Goldbach Group.
Mike Baur is passionate about youth empowerment. He offers them financial and mentorship support to help them reach their potential. Swiss Startup Factory’s accelerator program helps young entrepreneurs to extend their professional horizon. It also helps gain access to an extensive entrepreneurial network in Switzerland and across the globe. Mike Baur’s SSUF runs for three-months-long accelerator program to coach, mentor, fund, and offer an office space in Zurich for young tech entrepreneurs in Switzerland. It also creates a collaborative working environment while making it easy for aspiring entrepreneurs to access expert advice and build networks of entrepreneurs & investors. The Swiss Startup Factory’s accelerator program will eventually become the global gold standard for all other accelerator programs.
The idea for Swiss Startup Factory came after realizing that young tech entrepreneurs had excellent ideas but couldn’t bring them to the market. Mike Baur is the Executive Chairman of Swiss Startup Factory while Max Meister assumes the mantle of Delegate Board Member. Over the last 18 months, the Swiss Startup Factory has made significant strides by bringing high-profile companies on board. Through the Swiss Startup Factory, Mike Baur has enabled the Swiss startup space to leverage innovative and profitable opportunities in the digital world.
